To show the volunteers in our community how much we appreciate them the Grande Prairie Regional Association of Volunteer Organizations is happy to offer the following recognition programs:
Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week and Month
The Grande Prairie Regional Association of Volunteer Organizations and Tim Hortons are proud to honour volunteers in our community. Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week is a great way to let the people who go above and beyond know that they are appreciated! The recipients receive a letter of recognition from the Association, a gift from Tim Horton’s, their names are posted on our website and social media sites. Those nominated are also entered in the Volunteer of the Month draw! The winner of the draw is named Tim Hortons Volunteer of the Month and will have their name and/or picture posted on our homepage for the month, will be acknowledged on our social media pages and is awarded a $100 Tim Hortons Gift Card!
This service is available to anyone who utilizes and depends on volunteer manpower.

The Leaders of Tomorrow Awards, honour outstanding young Leaders in Grande Prairie and the surrounding area. The awards are presented to young individuals between the Ages of 13 to 18 who exhibit dedication and excellence in their fields of volunteer work including school, community, social activism, athletics or arts; and, inspire the spirit of volunteerism in others. Recipients receive a Leaders of Tomorrow Awards trophy, a certificate, cash award of $100, and a $100 donation to the charity of their choice.
The Awards recognize youths in 4 categories; LEADERSHIP, VOLUNTEERING, ADVOCACY & PRESVEREANCE. The perfect nominees are: Dedicated to Helping the Community; Have A Fearless Approach; Strive for Inclusion; Continuously Volunteer; Have Endless Patience; Think Creatively; Are Eager to Take the Initiative; Are Driven by Passion; Work Well with Others; and Inspire & Encourage Volunteerism. Nominations for the Awards open late August early September.
The Grande Prairie Regional Association of Volunteer Organizations launched the Volunteer of the Year Award in 2009. The award honours an extraordinary individual living in the Grande Prairie region for their volunteer contributions in the most recent twelve-month period for their considerable impact within the community.
In 2013 we added the Corporate Volunteer of the Year Award to recognize a company or business that, through its staff and policies supporting volunteerism, created an impact on a not-for-profit organization(s) in the last twelve months.
Along with the Volunteer of the Year Awards, the Association presents the Outstanding Members of the Community Awards. These awards pay tribute to individuals, groups and businesses who have improved the quality of life in the community through volunteer work. Nominations for the Awards open late August early September.
