Centre for Young Parents nominates Janice Scott for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘We have been beyond blessed to have Janice join our team as a daycare volunteer. Janice on her own time enjoys her hobby farm with her husband, daughter, grandchildren, and her great-grandchild. She brings a loving warmth to daycare that always has a positive effect on whichever children are in for the day, be it infants or toddlers, all children love her. Janice has gone above and beyond to ensure that each child’s individual needs are met and has no problem jumping in wherever she is needed, which has been hugely beneficial. Janice and her Husband even went so far as to dress up as Mr. and Mrs. Clause for our Christmas party which brought so much joy to the kids! Talk about going over and above! We are so lucky to have her and all of her joyous, caring energy. We look forward to all of our future daycare adventures together. ‘

Tinseltown Winter Market nominates Khris Weeks for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘We are nominating Khris Weeks for her countless hours, outstanding hard work and dedication as our Silent Auction Coordinator for Tinseltown Winter Market 2023.
Khris has been an invaluable asset to our team, consistently going above and beyond in her role. Her commitment to excellence and tireless efforts have significantly contributed to the success of the Tinseltown Winter Market.
Khris has demonstrated exceptional organizational skills with her meticulous planning and attention to detail ensuring the smooth execution of the silent auction. Her ability to think outside the box significantly elevated the fundraising potential of the auction with her creative ideas. Her dedication to her role went beyond the call of duty. She invested countless hours, often working late into the night, to ensure that every aspect of the auction was to be flawlessly executed. Her unwavering commitment was a driving force behind the event’s success, raising $7300 for the Compassion House Foundation this year. She demonstrated exceptional communication and collaboration skills, working seamlessly with volunteers, donors, and other stakeholders. Her ability to build positive relationships and foster a collaborative spirit was instrumental in creating a cohesive team dedicated to a common goal. Under Khris’ leadership, the silent auction achieved unprecedented success in terms of fundraising. Her strategic thinking, coupled with her ability to engage and inspire others, played a pivotal role in maximizing the funds raised for our organization.
Khris Weeks is not just a volunteer; she is a dedicated, passionate, and results-driven individual whose contributions have left an indelible mark on our event. Centre for Young Parents / CYP Project Thrift Shop nominates Darlene White for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Darlene is a welcomed member of the volunteer team for the CYP Project Thrift Shop. Darlene, a teacher, is since retired, and now enjoys playing ‘Grandma’ to all her little boys! She and her husband travel to be with their children whenever possible, especially because it takes them on many trips to the Maritimes!!!. Darlene loves to garden, cook, golf, attend music concerts and socializing/planning events within her neighborhood. Darlene works in a variety of capacities at the store. Mostly, you can find her washing the various children’s toys and assembling all the components. It is proven helpful to be a Grandma who is knowledgeable in that area!!! Darlene’s vibrant personality is welcomed each week she volunteers. Her robust laugh cannot go unnoticed and is certainly infectious to all of us working in the back room with her. Thank you, Darlene! You are a valued member of our team!’

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Grande Prairie & Area nominates Peter Bolger for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Peter has served on the Board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Grande Prairie & Area for several years, and now holds the position of our Board President. We are fortunate to have him and are constantly reminded of what a community hero looks like while working alongside him. Peter holds such genuine care and concern for the youth of our community, and he consistently goes above and beyond in ways that completely embody the spirit of service. The way he gives with an open heart and no expectation of anything in return is something truly admirable. His charitable spirit serves as a consistent reminder of the power of individual actions which help bring about positive, lasting change. Centre for Young Parents / CYP Project Thrift Shop nominates Shirley Yuchyshyn for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Shirley has been a part of the Project Thrift Shop volunteer group since June 2023. Shirley is relatively new to the Grande Prairie area since relocating here from Cranbrook, BC. Shirley comes to us after more than a decade of volunteer work in Cranbrook. She is enjoying life in the Peace Country, along with her puppy, and enjoys family time with her daughter and her family. She is a hard-working lady who willingly gives of her time at the thrift shop every week. We welcome her bright smile and laughter and appreciate her willingness to help with whatever tasks need tackling. We salute you, Shirley! Welcome to our team!’

Centre for Young Parents nominates for Rhonda Thomson Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Rhonda has been a member of our Board of Directors for many years. As our current Board Chair, Rhonda continually strives to assist the Centre’s staff with her encouragement and knowledge of the non-profit sector. Rhonda worked as the Administration & Grants Manager for the Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta. Rhonda is now off on a new adventure and will be greatly missed by all of us here at the Centre. Thank you for your dedication to our community Rhonda!’

Sexsmith Tumbling Club nominates Kelly Wald for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Kelly joined our volunteer board just within the last 6 months, but the difference she has already made is amazing! Kelly had taken on the position of Facility Manager and has worked hard to clean up our space, revamp our concession, and make sure we are stocked with all the supplies we need for day to day operations. We didn’t realize how much we needed this position filled until we saw the huge difference it makes! Thank you to Kelly for contributing hours of effort to the Sexsmith Tumbling Club!’

Sexsmith FCSS nominates Leslie Boisvert for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Leslie is a very valuable member of RWZ Elementary school in Sexsmith.   In addition to being an excellent E.A. who supports the students in our school, she also volunteers her time to coordinate and work in the Breakfast Club every day.   After school, you can find her in the gym volunteering to help with the volleyball or basketball program.  If that isn’t enough, she also is a volunteer leader for the local Girl Guides and she also volunteers for the after-school Board Game Club. If the school could clone her, they would!’

Sexsmith Playschool Society nominates Christine Dueck for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Christine is a Rockstar Volunteer! While being a parent, she took on the role of Vice-President and Fundraising Coordinator. We would be lost without all her hard work and dedication to our school. Grande Prairie Family Education Society nominates Eileen Kent for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Eileen has been an incredible volunteer with Coats for Kids this year. She welcome’s everyone in the building with kindness and does her best to ensure no one leaves empty handed!’

Grande Prairie Council for Lifelong Learning nominates Barb Warner for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘We nominate our volunteer tutor, Barb Warner, because this year, she has graciously given her time and expertise to tutor 7 learners in helping them prepare for the CELPIP Test. Barb is a passionate, caring and remarkable lady who enjoys helping our students succeed. She is an inspiration to us all, and we are very grateful to have her on our team.
