Drive Happiness nominates Mervin Lafferty for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Mervin started volunteering with Drive Happiness a year ago at the end of this month! Since he started as a volunteer driver, he has been so engaged in his role and has completed an impressive amount of rides! He is genuinely helping seniors in his community get to things like important medical appointments, the grocery store and visits with loved ones. Mervin has been such an amazing addition to our volunteer team, and we are lucky to have such a dedicated volunteer like him!’

The LaGlace Ringers nominates Coach Erin Hoffos for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week & National Coaches Week (September 16-24)! They wrote ‘Erin has grown Ringette in LaGlace to 3 teams! She is minor hockey president, ringette president & coach. She has also brought in pond hockey to our community for those that cannot play in all peace leagues. She never says no – and spend a huge amount of her very precious free time making these sports work.’

Centre for Young Parents nominates Iamme Justice for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Iamme is a very welcome, cheery, and helpful soul. We enjoy their help and company. Iamme is a 32-year-old non-binary student and substitute teacher. Iamme is from the traditional territory of the Mi’kmaq people but calls Treaty 8 their home. They love to play board games and visit local cafe, Cards, regularly, appreciates all the services The GP Library has to offer and decided to volunteer with us to support the local programming that our store’s profits are for: The Center for Young Parents. They like nature, the color purple, and love being visible in GP for the trans community at large! Their biggest dream is to see all people of Turtle Island have access to clean drinking water as a starting point and to have all people rekindle their relationship with this land. Grande Prairie Council for Lifelong Learning nominates Sheryl Stewart for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘We are nominating our Volunteer Tutor Sheryl Stewart because she has helped 6 our English language learners this year. She has tutored over 144 hours, preparing lessons and supporting students’ learning needs and goals. Sheryl is our superstar, and we are very honored to have her on our team!’

Peace Wapiti Academy nominates René Villiger for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘René is a community volleyball coach for both school and club. He is a great coach and an amazing role model for his athletes. He really cares about the well being of his athletes and strives to make them be better individuals both on and off the court.’

Bandaged Paws Animal Rescue Association nominates Sean Garvey for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Sean is an incredible volunteer! He takes the time out of his weekend to come and walk some of our dogs that need it the most. He is always eager to learn and help out in any way he can while he’s here.’

Centre for Young Parents nominates Cecily Phelps for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Cecily comes to us to volunteer on her day off work. She travels regularly and is making plans to continue her education. Cecily is always happy and excited to see the children and she is a huge asset to our volunteer team in the First Steps childcare Centre. *Fun Fact: Cecily was one of our top 10 Finalists at our 2022 Sound Check Music Contest & Fundraiser!’

Grande Prairie Centre for Newcomers nominates Carmen Irina Puiu for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Carmen has been a volunteer for us since last year. Originally volunteering as an interpreter. She has most recently helped informally tutor one of our clients in English the past couple months. This is not a regular volunteer opportunity, but this client desperately needed additional help as she waited for English classes and so Carmen has been an absolute Angel for her. Thank you Carmen for being an amazing volunteer and being so friendly, kind and considerate and for truly making a difference in our client’s lives!’
