Pregnancy Care Centre nominates Carole Belec for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Carole is like a Grandmother to our clients. She is gentle and attentive to the client’s needs, providing a safe place for them to learn and grow. She is always ready to cheer clients on and celebrate with them. We are so thankful for Carole’s dedication to our Centre.’

Kendra Smith with South Peace Rural Community Learning nominates Trish Fair for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! Kendra wrote ‘Trish volunteers for many agencies and still gives us her time as an executive on our board. She also volunteers as one of our tutors as well as teaches some of our classes for free. She’s wonderful at giving us her time and she helps us immensely.’

Pregnancy Care Centre nominates Tanya Swanberg for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Tanya goes above and beyond in her role as a grief and loss support worker. She frequently comes in extra hours to accommodate client’s schedules. She is encouraging to staff and always humble. Her presence is an encouragement to staff and clients alike.’

Alberta Genealogical Society, Grande Prairie & District Branch nominates Joan Bowman for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Joan has faithfully volunteered as the Branch’s Researcher for more years that can be counted, close to 20 would be my guess. She receives requests locally and from other countries from our contact information in the public domain and looks up obituaries and other information that helps these individuals learn about their family histories. We appreciate her commitment and hard work for these individuals and for the Branch.’

Alberta Genealogical Society, Grande Prairie & District Branch nominates Jay Sydoruk for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Jay faithfully volunteers 2nd & 4th Wednesdays in our Genealogy Room in the GP Library, helping clients research their family trees. He is also a dependable volunteer when we set up our display table at a public event, promoting an awareness of our organization.’

Alberta Genealogical Society, Grande Prairie & District Branch nominates Al Bromling for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Al faithfully volunteers 2nd & 4th Wednesdays in our Genealogy Room in the GP Library, helping clients research their family trees. He is also a dependable volunteer when we setup our display table at a public event, promoting awareness of our organization.’

Grande Prairie Ski Patrol Association nominates Wayne Mayell for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Wayne has been part of the Canadian Ski Patrol for DECADES! He has been volunteering with the Grande Prairie Ski Patrol Association which is part of the Canadian Ski Patrol for many many years. He has helped mentor many ski patrollers over the years. Wayne volunteers well over 200 hours a year on the hill providing first aid and promoting safety at Nitehawk, but he also puts in many unaccounted-for hours behind the scenes for the Grande Prairie Ski Patrol by taking inventory of our supplies and ensuring we are stocked, inputting accident reports, archiving all our meeting minutes among many other things including but not limited to cleaning the first aid room. I would just like to let Wayne know that I see all the work he does and am truly appreciative of it. Wayne takes his first aid training and helps out at various events around time as well as Nitehawk.’

Beaverlodge Family & Community Support Services nominates Cassie Visser for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Cassie is an extraordinary individual whose selflessness has had a profound impact on our community. When the previous chair of the Beaverlodge Food Bank retired, Cassie stepped up without hesitation to take on the role, a responsibility that is far from small. The food bank serves a wide geographic area, and Cassie is always there, volunteering her time to ensure those in need are supported. No matter the day or hour, Cassie is the first to respond, ready to drop everything to help someone in need. Her dedication, compassion, and tireless efforts have become an invaluable part of our community. In a time when it’s increasingly difficult to find committed volunteers, Cassie truly embodies the spirit of service. She consistently seeks new ways to assist others, always with humility and grace. Cassie is not just an incredible volunteer; she is a cornerstone of our town, and we are incredibly fortunate to have her.’

The Town of Sexsmith FCSS nominates Kelly Sage for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Kelly Sage is a person you will see helping out in so many places, and she is always positive. The students and staff at Sexsmith St. Mary’s School are lucky to have her. Kelly dedicates a lot of time to the St. Mary’s lunch program; she has helped organize and coach St. Mary’s after school developmental sports programs for atomic volleyball and basketball. This year Kelly has stepped up to be the head volunteer coach for volleyball this year. Kelly also volunteers for the afterschool literacy support. Kelly, has participated in several community and highway clean ups. She is a member of the Family and Community Support Services Board and was nominated and received the “Excellence in Education”, recognizing Service Above Self from Rotary 2024.’

Carrie Hogg with Helping Homeless Restart Society nominates Sandra Baker for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Sandy volunteers on many boards and assists with many situations in the Hythe and area. She is a go getter and just likes things to be done and ready. Sandy cares deeply about her community and the people within it.’

Grande Prairie Family Education Society nominates Charla Savoury for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Charla has been such a great help at the Grande Sunset Theatre Drive In this past season! Her dedication and commitment to always showing up and OFTEN is greatly appreciated. Thank you, Charla!’

The Golden Age Center nominates Lynda Evans for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘We would like to nominate Lynda Evans, President of the Golden Age Center who puts in 40 hours a week here. Without her contribution, we would struggle so much!’
