Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week

Seniors Outreach nominates Terry Doerkson for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Thank you Terry for volunteering with Seniors Outreach helping with our Dream Home and Cash & Camping ticket sales. Terry has been volunteering with us for several years making time around his enjoying a round of golf :)’

Peace Area Riding for the Disabled Society (PARDS) nominates Judi Harker for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Judi began volunteering at PARDS previous facility in 2017, leading and side walking in lessons. Over the years, Judi has come to refer to PARDS as, “her happy place”. What began as 1 – 3 hours a week, has now become 4 nights a week offering 8 hours of her time, tacking horses and assisting our riders in lessons. Judi enjoys the time spent with the horses, riders and other volunteers. One volunteer in particular comes numerous times as well throughout the week working along side Judi and the 2 have been affectionately dubbed, “the Dream Team”. Over the years Judi helped in other areas of volunteering, selling tickets or leading in pony rides at our Carnival. Judi has been a great supporter of PARDS, spreading the word to others about our programs and volunteering opportunities. Seeing opportunities where donated work time could be given, Judi has reached out to her employer, Ruskin Construction Ltd., and facility projects have been completed. One project was the completion of PARDS Critter pen where if you visit you will see Ruskin & Harker, PARDS donkeys, who were named after Judi and her employer for their help. With the various ways Judi enriches PARDS, especially the joy she brings our riders with her caring and fun nature, it is no wonder Judi was named PARDS 2019 Volunteer of the Year. Thank you Judi!’

Lori Russell from Clairmont Ag Society nominates Cindy Trudel for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Cindy Trudel has gone above any beyond for the ag society in the last couple months. In the last two weeks she has spent close to 50 hours approximately working on our Reno’s to the main foyer, so we have it all completed before our next event. On top of working on the Reno’s she does all the behind the scenes jobs that come up. She is our President, so she is the main contact for a lot of different things.’

Seniors Outreach Snow Fairies nominates Jeff Pedersen for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Jeff volunteers his time in helping his neighbors out with snow removal on their driveways and contacted us to take on a driveway of one of the seniors on our Snow Fairy program. Thank You for helping out and being a great neighbor and member of the community.’

Seniors Outreach nominates Beth Coates for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Beth has been a volunteer with Seniors Outreach for a few years. She brings her smile when helping out with The Dream Home and Cash & Camping tickets sales. Thanks Beth for all you do :).’

Peace Area Riding for the Disabled Society (PARDS) nominates Donna Sieben for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Donna has been volunteering at PARDS for almost 3 years now. She leads in lessons weekly, giving us a morning of her time, knowing we can rely on her being there for her riders. Donna arrives early to help the instructors tack up horses, which is much appreciated, especially in these group lessons where up to 4 horses need to be groomed and tacked and after lessons Donna helps untack and take horses out. One of Donna’s riders is visually impaired and the 2 can be seen chatting while waiting to mount. Donna is always making her aware of the surroundings, often with humour, instilling a trusting bond between the 2, on and off the horse. Donna’s connection with this rider is often met with “big hugs for the week”. When a new volunteer joined the group this year, they quickly discovered a friend and family connection and the 2 have become close friends. At PARDS you never know who you will meet, Thank you Donna!’

Seniors Outreach nominates Marcia Church for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Thank you to Marcia for volunteering for Seniors Outreach. She has been helping out with our fundraising – selling tickets at The Dream Home and when we sold Cash & Camping tickets.’

Seniors Outreach nominates for Ron Boyce Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Ron has been volunteering for Seniors Outreach for a few years. He has helped with our fundraising – helping with Cash & Camping and Dream Home Ticket Sales. We appreciate his support.’

Seniors Outreach nominates Trudy Wynnychuk for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Trudy has been a volunteer for several years for Seniors Outreach – We value her willingness to lend a helping hand assisting with Ticket Sales at the 2023 Dream Home and the 2022 Cash & Camping, ticket sales. We enjoy her enthusiasm and appreciate her willingness to help out whenever we ask. Thank You Trudy.’

Seniors Outreach nominates Janet Van Someren for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Thank you to Janet as she lends a helping hand assisting with Ticket Sales at the 2023 Dream home. We enjoy her warmth and appreciate her support. Congratulations Janet.’

Peace Area Riding for the Disabled Society (PARDS) nominates Gordon Ingledew for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Gordon has been volunteering with PARDS since September of 2022. After attending a Volunteer Orientation. Gordon initially took on 2 rider lessons leading, but when a need comes up to add a new rider he has been more than happy to step in and help. Gordon now volunteers 2 mornings a week. He comes in to groom and tack the horses getting them ready for riders and then leads and sidewalks. His calm, quiet personality eases nervous riders and other riders greet him with enthusiasm. While tacking or standing in the arena waiting for riders you can see him giving horses he works with gentle scratches letting them know, “we got this” and they know they can rely on him.’
