Janet Loseth nominated by Centre for Young Parents

Centre for Young Parents nominates Janet Loseth for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week!

They wrote ‘Jan is one of our many valued volunteers. She has been volunteering at the Thrift Shop prior to the store opening in September. (Inside note…. that was because Jan is the sister of the store supervisor Cheryl. She bribed her and insisted upon her help!!! LOL!).

Jan has recently started into her retirement from the Healthcare field with AHS. Her organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail has been a welcomed addition to the store! She volunteers twice/week and enjoys tending to the folding, packaging, and labelling within the linen department. She is a hard worker and often goes above and beyond what is requested of her.

Jan is a great advocate for the thrift store and is a welcomed smiling face each week! Thank you Jan!!!’

The Grande Prairie Branch of the Alberta Genealogical Society nominates Jay Sydoruk for Tim Hortons Volunteers of the Week!

They wrote ‘Although a member for 6 short years, Jay has made considerable contributions to the Branch. He has been our computer go to guy. Jay is very knowledgeable in issues to do with computers and has been responsible for the upkeep, repair, and replacement of the computers in the Branch.

Along with being a faithful attendee at Branch meetings and functions, Jay has been a member of the Branch Executive Committee for the past 3 years. He has also filled in as a representative of the Branch President at Provincial Board meetings.

One of Jay’s most significant contributions is his knowledge and skill in the area of genealogical research. As one of our “genies” he has been available on a regular basis, to Branch members and the public in general, to help and guide the search for ancestors. While very knowledgeable about Genealogical research in general, he is particularly skilled in helping people trace their Ukrainian ancestry. Jay has also been a part of numerous forays into outlying communities to help people with searches for ancestors and to help them become confident and competent in searching on their own.

All in all, Jay has been willing to take on tasks on behalf of the Branch. He is a smart and capable young man.’
