Grande Prairie Family Education Society nominates Edith Hurst for Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Edith has kindly shared her time with us volunteering from Coats for Kids to the Good Food Basket program.’

Communities Building Youth Futures nominates Brandon Harrison for Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Brandon goes above and beyond with his volunteering for Communities Building Youth Futures. He Co-Chairs our Leadership Table as well as our Education Action Team, is a moderator on our Discord Server, and also on our CBYF Ambassador team. He spends countless hours volunteering with CBYF to grow the initiative locally, get more youth involved, and ensure that there is strong youth voice around our tables. He is always willing to lend a hand.’

Frontier College nominates Patricia MacLean for Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Patty became a volunteer tutor with Frontier College in the fall and has made a huge difference in the life of her learner. From day one, she has been reliable, punctual, thoughtful and creative with her sessions. Her ability to connect with and inspire her Grade 8 student has been incredible to witness. In addition to focused literacy learning, Patty and her learner have explored his interests and set goals for his future. His increased confidence and school success is evident. Patty’s dedication and enthusiasm really shone when she spearheaded a field trip to the Art Gallery for her student, which led to a great experience for all Frontier College learners. We are so grateful for the time and energy Patty dedicates to our school program! Thank you!’

Canadian Motorcycle Tourism Association nominates Scott Lefebvre for Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Scott is one of the most reliable, consistent and rock-solid volunteers an organization could have. He takes ownership of everything he does and is a wonderfully kind soul. Scott helps us with set up and tear down for events and helps with everything from janitorial work to painting! His contributions to our association are significant! ‘

Grande Prairie Council for Lifelong Learning nominates Barb Warner for Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘We would like to nominate our Volunteer Tutor Barb Warner. Barb has been helping our ESL student prepare for her English Proficiency exam. The learner was working towards achieving a level 5 in her reading and writing, and within a month of tutoring, the learner received 5s in both language skills! Because of this, the learner can apply for permanent residency! Barb tutored her learner 3-4 times a week to make sure she received enough practice with the material. We thank Barb for her dedication, support and giving the gift of time to her learner. We are very fortunate to have her on our team!’

Krissy and Sexsmith Playschool Society nominates Abby Fischer for Volunteers of the Week! Krissy wrote ‘I’m writing to highlight our rock star Fundraiser Coordinator Abby Fischer. She goes above and beyond and puts countless hours into our ongoing fundraisers. With us being a nonprofit organization, our main source of income is through fundraisers and she has put so much thought and detail while organizing all of our 2021/2022 fundraisers. We would be completely lost without her.’

Sexsmith Tumbling Club nominates Kaylynn Starrak for Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Kaylynn is our amazing treasurer! She works hard to keep up with registration, fundraising and payroll. Kaylynn also lends a hand in all other areas of the club when she can! And she’s at the club 6 hours a week, so that’s quite often!’

Meals on Wheels / Seniors Outreach nominates Marshall Basarab for Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Marshall is a teen who has been helping one of our other volunteers deliver meals. It is so amazing to see young individuals helping out. With volunteers like you, we have a chance to make this world a better place. Thank you for all your hard work. It makes all the difference. Meals on Wheels / Seniors Outreach nominates Norman Foster for Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Norman is one of our newer volunteers but has fit in quickly and we love having him as a part of our team! Our clients look forward to his delivery days and being able to chat for a moment. Thank you so much for your enthusiasm and genuine dedication to assisting us in everything we do. Nicole McKeachnie nominates Merill McCullough for Volunteers of the Week! Nicole wrote ‘Merill is a god send to the AHS Grande Prairie Adult Day Program. Merill has been a dedicated volunteer for many months, assisting with program prep, program implementation, socializing, organizing and overall being fantastic. Nominating Merill as volunteer of the week is a no brainer for us, as she is the grease that keeps our wheels spinning. We want to thank Merill for being her selfless self and making everyone’s day brighter.’
