They wrote ‘Over the past two years, Erika has shared her time, energy, and passion for helping others with Frontier College. We were able to return to in-person tutoring this year and Erika jumped at the opportunity to work with several Grade 6 students. Her calm, kind, and light-hearted demeanor helped learners feel comfortable and supported when working on their reading skills. It was evident that Erika’s students enjoyed every session with her and greatly benefited from their time spent together. Erika is heading to school in the fall and, while she will be missed tremendously, we wish her all the best in the next chapter of her journey!’

She builds deep connections with her learners and puts incredible time, effort, and creativity into her sessions. She truly follows Frontier College’s student-centred approach and makes learning personalized, engaging, and fun. Tanis has the ability to adapt to the changing needs of the school program; she continued to tutor online and was open to working with a new student part way through the school year. In addition to focused literacy learning, Patty and her learner have explored his interests and set goals for his future. His increased confidence and school success is evident. Patty’s dedication and enthusiasm really shone when she spearheaded a field trip to the Art Gallery for her student, which led to a great experience for all Frontier College learners. Barb has been helping our ESL student prepare for her English Proficiency exam. The learner was working towards achieving a level 5 in her reading and writing, and within a month of tutoring, the learner received 5s in both language skills! Because of this, the learner can apply for permanent residency! Barb tutored her learner 3-4 times a week to make sure she received enough practice with the material. We thank Barb for her dedication, support and giving the gift of time to her learner. We are very fortunate to have her on our team!’

With us being a nonprofit organization, our main source of income is through fundraisers and she has put so much thought and detail while organizing all of our 2021/2022 fundraisers. We would be completely lost without her.’
