Spinal Cord Injury Alberta nominates Elaine Stenbraaten for Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Elaine has been untiring in her support of furnishing a home for a recently housed individual who uses a wheelchair. She not only found a free table with chairs but, cleaned the upholstery and sought out items at the local thrift shop; arranging for all of this to be delivered to the apartment of the client. People like Elaine keep the wheels turning in our communities!’

Spinal Cord Injury Alberta nominates Phil Brandt for Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘With very short notice, Phil helped with the pick-up and delivery of furniture for a client with a physical disability who planned to move to Grande Prairie over a weekend. By helping with this delivery, Phil saved the client $85.00 delivery fee and ensured that the client would have a bed to sleep on when he arrived late in the day. Phil was the fifth person that I asked; his willingness to help with pick-up and delivery is very appreciated.’

Grande Prairie Palliative Care Society nominates Crystal Oliver for Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Crystal is an absolute delight. Since joining the Senior Pen Pal Program, she has filled our mailboxes with amazing stories and belly grabbing laughs. She is genuinely thoughtful and cares very deeply for our community, encompassing our seniors especially. You can feel her kind warmth through her letters and each one is a gem.’

Odyssey House nominates Greta Berg for Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Greta has been an incredible asset to our organization. Greta has been willing to help out since day one. Whether it be a large event or a small day-to-day task, Greta has been up to help us out. Greta wants to be able to help empower women, she does this by not only being a positive role model in our community but by also graciously giving her time.’

Meals on Wheels nominates Amber Shaw for Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Amber has been delivering with her mother for 11 years now! Thank you Amber for bringing sunshine to others. Keep doing such great work and we look forward to your return.’

Meals on Wheels nominates Pam Pfliger for Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘We were lucky enough to get Pam as a volunteer for us when she was just helping out a friend. She is now part of our team here and we are thrilled to have her among our volunteers! Thank you for contributing your time, energy, and effort.’

Jamie Querin & The Wembley & District Ag Society nominates Renee Corrigal for Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘The Wembley & District Ag Society wants to recognize Renee Corrigal as one of our outstanding volunteers. She is the Vice-President of our organization and life long resident of Wembley. Renee stepped into the chair position of rebuild committee following the devasting fire that closed our building in 2020. Since then she has dedicated more hours than any of us can count meeting with contractors, vendors, sub contractors, insurance agents etc. She is a strong leader and has represented our organization with passion and integrity. We don’t get to thank her enough or show her how much her tireless efforts have meant to us all and our community.’

Grande Prairie Centre for Newcomers nominates Elizabeth Cendana for Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Elizabeth started volunteering with us at the end of October 2021 as an English Conversation Club Facilitator and we are so grateful to have her on our team. I can always count on her and am so thankful for how flexible she can be with being able to come in last minute to sub in for sessions. She has a wealth of knowledge and club members really learn a lot from her during chats. Thank you Elizabeth!’

Seniors Outreach nominates Daisy Morgan for Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Daisy volunteers with fundraising efforts for the Seniors Outreach & Meals On Wheels programs. She has helped sell tickets & cleaned for Cash & Camping and Cars for Christmas; and helped at our Casino’s. Daisy’s cheerful demeanor is shared and appreciated by many community organizations whom she volunteers with. Thank you Daisy for your time :)’

Centre for Young Parents nominates Kira Borman for Volunteers of the Week! They wrote ‘Kira has been an integral part of the board with Centre for Young Parents for nearly six years. Prior to that she was a program participant for many years and is a strong advocate for the Centre. Kira has taken on a few different roles within the board such as director, treasurer and most recently, advocacy committee chair. This committee’s main goal is to share stories, inspire change, and show the community just how much good Centre for Young Parents has done over the years with a number of participants. We are so very grateful for Kira’s commitment, involvement and passion to serve young parents through collaborative change.’
