The Grande Prairie Regional Association of Volunteer Organizations (GPRAVO) is excited to present the Annual Volunteer of the Year Awards, recognizing an exceptional individual and business in the Grande Prairie region for their outstanding volunteer contributions.
History and Purpose: Launched in 2009, the Volunteer of the Year Award celebrates individuals who have made a significant impact through their volunteer efforts over the past year. In 2013, we introduced the Corporate Volunteer of the Year Award to honor businesses that have supported volunteerism and made a positive impact on non-profit organizations.
Award Categories:
- Individual Volunteer of the Year
- Corporate Volunteer of the Year
Eligibility:
- Individual Volunteer of the Year: Open to residents of the Grande Prairie region who have volunteered between November 2023 and October 2024.
- Corporate Volunteer of the Year: Open to businesses operating in the Grande Prairie region that have supported volunteerism between November 2023 and October 2024.
Nomination Process:
- Who Can Nominate: Nominations can be submitted by not-for-profit organizations, community groups, educational institutions, government bodies, or individuals.
- Submission Timeline: Nominations open in late August or early September.
- Deadline: 2024 Nominations must be submitted by October 18, 2024.
- Award Presentation: The winners will be honored at the Annual International Volunteer Day Celebration Breakfast on December 5, 2024.
Nomination Guidelines:
Corporate Volunteer of the Year:
- Companies that have supported volunteer efforts through staff, policies, or resources are eligible.
- Contributions must be from November 2023 to October 2024.
- Nominations must have the company’s consent.
- Multiple nominations for a single company will be combined.
- Complete and submit nomination forms by the deadline.
- By signing, both the nominator and company agree to the guidelines.
- The selection committee’s decision is final.
- Submitted materials become the property of GPRAVO and will not be returned.
Individual Volunteer of the Year:
- Open to individuals over 18 who have made significant volunteer contributions.
- Contributions must be from November 2023 to October 2024.
- Nominations require the nominee’s consent.
- Multiple nominations for the same individual will be combined.
- Complete and submit nomination forms by the deadline.
- By signing, both the nominator and nominee agree to the guidelines.
- The selection committee’s decision is final.
- Submitted materials become the property of GPRAVO and will not be returned.

In addition to the Volunteer of the Year Awards, GPRAVO also honors outstanding citizens through the Outstanding Citizens of the Year Awards, recognizing individuals, groups, and businesses that have enhanced the community’s quality of life through volunteer work. Recipients are selected by the Association.
